Things to Think About
“ANYTHING BUT CHEESE!”
Your child’s unique expressions are our ultimate goal.
Let us get to know your child/children.
When working with more than one child at a time,
we will generally have a volunteer to go first,
letting the shyer child observe their sibling for a bit.
We will slowly work the quieter child into the shot,
often when they least expect it “they” get comfortable &
give us their all.
Please consider giving us some time to get to know
your children before we begin our session.
It often helps when the parents step back a little,
as it takes the “pressure” off to perform.
Newborn and infant sessions can take a while.
Babies fuss & need to nurse more often when
we fidget with them.
We have the time scheduled to give
you both a break here and there.
So try to relax and we will get just what we need.
Be sure your children have eaten well prior to arriving at the studio.
Consider scheduling a child’s session after a nap.
~ Choices ~
Before you leave the studio, we will have an
appointment set up for your viewing within a week.
During your personal viewing you will watch
a slide show of the finished images set to music.
The DVD is available for purchase.
There will be approximately 25 to 40 images to consider.
We will sort through the images with you &
your favorite portraits will be printed on a
proof sheet of thumbnails.
If you would like an in home
consultation as to sizes & wall displays,
please call & we’ll make arrangements.
Any time within the following week you may schedule
your Purchasing Appointment.
The Day of Your Session
How To Dress
Classic is our favorite.
Remember, at least one of these images may end up as a
large wall portrait that you will be enjoying for many years.
Dress you & your child/children comfortably,
in clothing that is not restrictive.
When clothes aren’t comfortable, it show in the expressions on your faces.
That’s not the expression we are trying to catch.
With colors and patterns, when in doubt, solids always work well.
If yours is a session in our studio white is a great option.
However, if you’re having your session outdoors,
we recommend avoiding white or other light shades.
Sunshine tends to make the lighter colors become reflective.
Family groups in coordinating colors work nicely,
and show contrast in color or black & white portraiture.
PLEASE avoid character clothing, although cute on an active toddler in person,
they can be a bit are distracting in portraits, & we want to catch the personality ~
there’s always a reason FOR a character shoot, such as when your toddler
won’t wear anything BUT this set of PJ’s.
Remember that if your toddler chooses a tutu & a cowboy hat
during your session, we will “go with it”….
After all we’re here to have a fun experience!
Newborns are at their best in their birthday suits!
We always preheat the studio for newborns,
we may be dripping wet, but the infant will be asleep.
A diaper cover is always nice, as well an heirloom item,
or a special blanket, or Daddy’s baseball glove ~
grandpa’s antique toy…
Remember the elastics in socks & little puffy sleeves which may
leave marks on little one’s precious skin.
Prepare little ones their favorite mess free snacks & drinks
(just in case).
We always have bottled water available.
